Prior to offering piano lessons out of her residence in Waxhaw, North Carolina, Brittany Smith studied classical music for over 15 years all the way through advanced musical literature – 9 of those years being under the professional instruction of Valerie Chamberlin.  In 2008, she graduated from the Certificate of Merit with honors through the Music Teachers Association of California.  In her years of study under the MTAC, Brittany also participated in Bach Festival Competitions, a Composition Competition, Baroque Festivals, Honors Recitals, and Certificate of Merit Exams.  Her musical education included theory, technique, performance, ear training, sight reading, and music history.  She also took formal instruction from Valerie Chamberlin in piano pedagogy.  After her graduation, she continued her studies in classical music while teaching a few students in California before moving to Tennessee.  During her time in Tennessee, Brittany served as a pianist/accompanist in her church for six years – increasing her knowledge of hymnology and improvisation.  In 2014, she moved to Waxhaw, North Carolina with her family where she is now teaching piano lessons in her home where she continues to expand her knowledge in the study of music while teaching students on a weekly basis.
